Tina Fey Would Never Take Fashion Advice

Tina Fey will never take fashion advice from designers. The ’30 Rock’ star – who is currently pregnant with her second child – claims a lot of sartorialists would never don some of their catwalk creations and says it’s a good idea to have a look at what they themselves are wearing.

Writing on her book, ‘Bossypants’, Tina said: ‘A wise friend once told me, ‘Don’t wear what fashion designers tell you to wear. Wear what they wear.’ His point being that most designers, no matter what they throw onto the runway, favour simple, flattering pieces for themselves. Anyone who has never met me can tell you that fashion has always been very very very very very very very important to me.

For example, I once told my cousin that my dream would be ‘if the whole store Express was my closet!’ How prescient, because now, of course, I wear nothing but Express.’ As well as not taking advice from designers, the 40-year-old funnywoman also joked she found her own unique look when she was just 19.

She said: ‘It can’t be said enough. Don’t concern yourself with fashion; stick to simple pieces that flatter your body type . By 19, I had found my look. Oversize T-shirts, bike shorts, and wrestling shoes. To prevent the silhouette from being too baggy, I would clinch it at the waist with my fanny pack. I was pretty sure I would wear this look forever. The shirts allowed me express myself with cool sayings like ‘There’s No Crying in Baseball’ and ‘Universitat Heidelberg,’ the bike shorts showed off my muscular legs, and the bum bag held all my trolley tokens. I was nailing it on a daily basis. Find something like this for yourself as soon as possible.’

Spring Bridal Collection by Oscar de la Renta

New York – There was something enchanting in the air at the Oscar de la Renta showroom where he presented his Spring 2012 bridal collection on Monday, April 11, in New York.

Always one to put on a show and create something awe-inspiring, de la Renta this season set the scene to something you would expect little girls to conjure up if they let their young and vivid imaginations run free. Always refined of course, these little women could be found hosting a tea party in the garden out back surrounded by freesia and lavender scents as they sip tea, or at least gesture as such, in little white gloves and paint pictures for each other envisioning their fantastical wedding dreams.

With the youthfulness to the collection came an understated elegance that only de la Renta could pervade. Long silhouettes with bodacious skirts composed of ruffles and organza florets gave the illusion of a woman running through a patch of petals as they joined together to adorn her body. Rabbit hair on a white feathered bolero and scarf meshed perfectly with the springtime garden fauna.

Offering something novel to the bridal repertoire, de la Renta utilized the neckline in square shapes and more angular cuts. All 37 designs were white except for a couple of degrade silk organza gowns in pink and a tea length version in pale blue.

Ashley Tisdale: Disney Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure

There are just nine days until Sharpay Evans is back in your life! Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure costume designer Tom McKinley passed along a few fashion tips to share with our readers and told us just where Sharpay gets her fashion sense.

Ashely Tisdale Sharpay Evans

“I always thought that in her heart, Sharpay was still playing ‘dress up’ in her mother’s closet,” Tom shares. “She doesn’t just take an outfit and wear it, she plays around with it and makes it even more special.”

Want to steal Sharpay’s sense of style and sophistication? We do too and Tom told us how! “The major thing we can learn from Sharpay is that she never leaves her bedroom until she looks at herself and says, ‘Yes, I am complete.’ She always looks perfect and she always makes an entrance. That’s truly what Sharpay is all about. She looks at outfits and thinks, ‘Is this going to be worth making an entrance in?’ That’s what you need to do if you want to copy Sharpay’s style.”

Dangerous Fashion Statement of Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez flaunted her dangerously hot body in a metal cage outfit on set of her video for “I’m Into You” featuring Lil Wayne, the second single from her new album LOVE? (May 3). People‘s Most Beautiful Woman in the World flew down south where she was allowed unprecedented access to shoot against the archeological sites in Chichen Itza, Mexico.

The Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards 2011 Top Looks

The Academy of Country Music Awards 2011 took place in Las Vegas yesterday and the leading ladies of country music put on their Sunday best for the big event.

Academy of Country Music Awards ACM Awards 2011

Here’s a rundown of my top 4 favorite looks from the carpet.

Most Playful: It took a few moments to focus after seeing photos of Julianne Hough from the red carpet. She looked so radiant wearing Randi Rahm’s Melissa evening gown. What I loved the most about the dress was that it was backless. Guess all that training has been paying off because her back looked great!

Most Daring: Nicole Kidman looked like she was whipping Keith Urban right before they arrived to the red carpet. Maybe Keith and Nicole are into to S&M thing and all power to them. I loved Nicole’s dominatrix inspired L’Wren Scott Fall 2011 dress. It was quite different from the conservative dresses we usually see Nicole wearing.

Most Elegant: Taylor Swift‘s dress was my favorite of the night. She was wearing a nude Elie Saab Couture Spring 2010 gown. What I loved about the dress was all the detail with the beading and feathers. She was definitely dressed like a winner!

Favorite Color: Carrie Underwood never disappoints on the red carpet and last night was no exception. Carrie Underwood looked stunning wearing a one-of-a-kind Jean Fares Couture gown. What I loved most about Carrie’s gown was the color. The deep purple full-length gown was embellished with jeweled pockets and featuring a very low cut back.

Lady Gaga To Write Fashion Column

Lady Gaga does not hide her love of fashion, so it is nice to see that she will get the chance to write about it in a magazine. V Magazine has hired Gaga to write for their upcoming summer issue’s fashion column. Here is what Gaga tweeted about the news.

“I begin next month as a Fashion+Art Columnist for @VMagazine” – Lady Gaga

Are you happy that Lady Gaga gets a chance to write about fashion now? I wonder if she will wind up designing her own fashion line. Or at least team up with a bigger label for a smaller collection? She clearly adores fashion, so I don’t see why she won’t end up one day designing her own line.

Are you planning to buy the magazine to see what she wrote? I have a feeling that it won’t be long until she publishes a book about her fashion tips. She could quickly become as a well of known fashion icon as Victoria Beckham.
